What the example shop shows
The workbook ships with the same four products as the free calculator, so you can check every figure there.
| Product | Unit cost | Etsy | Own site | Craft fair | Wholesale |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 8 oz soy candle, amber jar | $9.55 | $19.99 | $17.99 | $19.99 | $13.65 |
| 16 oz 3-wick tumbler | $15.46 | $31.99 | $27.99 | $29.99 | $22.09 |
| 4 oz travel tin | $5.16 | $11.99 | $9.99 | $11.99 | $7.37 |
| Wax melts, 6-cube clamshell | $3.75 | $8.99 | $7.99 | $9.99 | $5.36 |
The wholesale check on the Pricing sheet: the 8 oz candle wholesales at $13.65, a shop doubling it would shelve it at $27.30, and selling it wholesale at half the Etsy price ($10.00) would leave a 4.5% margin.
One batch, planned
24 of the 8 oz candles need 9.851 lb of wax and 12.609 oz of fragrance; 10 lb of wax makes 24 of them, a 45 lb case 109 and a 16 oz bottle of fragrance covers 30. 64 clamshells of wax melts need 9.672 lb of wax and 15.475 oz of fragrance. Each default batch holds 165.12 oz of fill, one load of a 20 lb melter.
Quantity breaks for custom-label wedding favors
4 oz tins with the couple's names on the label. Design and batch time are charged to the job, so the price per tin falls as the order grows. Custom orders are quoted to the nickel.
| Quantity | Batches | Price each | Order total |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | 1 | $71.70 | $71.70 |
| 12 | 1 | $13.15 | $157.80 |
| 25 | 1 | $10.40 | $260.00 |
| 50 | 2 | $10.05 | $502.50 |
| 100 | 3 | $9.45 | $945.00 |
| 250 | 6 | $9.05 | $2,262.50 |
A single custom tin carries a whole batch and the label setup, which is why it comes to $71.70: the table makes the case for a minimum order.
A quote for 60 favors, each with a guest's name
60 tins at the 60-piece price of $9.70 come to $582.00. Add a $35.00 custom label design fee and $20.83 for putting 60 names on the labels, and the quote totals $637.83, with a 50% deposit of $318.92 and the same again on delivery.
What if wax goes up 10% and fragrance 15%?
The 8 oz candle's cost rises from $9.55 to $9.80 and its Etsy margin at $19.99 falls to 39.2%; $20.99 keeps 40%. The 16 oz tumbler needs $32.99. The tin and the wax melts absorb it and keep their prices.
Equipment payback
At the example shop's average Etsy profit of $7.58 a unit and 200 units a month ($1,515.58), a $650 equipment set-up pays for itself in 0.43 months (86 units) and a $900 larger melter in 0.59 months (119 units).

Spanish edition included
Edición en español incluida en la misma descarga: todas las hojas, etiquetas y nombres de hoja traducidos, con las mismas fórmulas.
Both editions are in the same .zip, so a shop with Spanish-speaking staff or customers doesn't need to buy twice.
Who it's for
- Small-batch candle and wax melt makers (soy, coconut, paraffin or blends; jars, tumblers, tins and clamshells) who sell on Etsy, at craft fairs, on their own site or wholesale to shops.
- Makers who take custom orders, such as wedding favors and corporate gifts with custom labels, and need to quote them quickly and consistently.
It is not accounting or inventory software, it doesn't connect to Etsy, and it doesn't teach candle making: there is no wick, temperature or fragrance-load guidance. Follow your supplier's maximum fragrance load and flash-point guidance. Figures are estimates, not tax, legal or safety advice. Fees were last checked on 2026-10-27 and example supply prices on 2026-10-29; both are editable.
